A Brandon grocery store has taken the step of sharing a cautionary note with fellow retailers in the area after being victim of what’s alleged to have been a “quick change” scam in the early evening hours on Saturday:
According to the store the matter has been reported to Police.
In February of 2018 Brandon Police Service reported of a similarly described scam alleged to have taken place at a local financial institution. In that warning Police described the scam as:
“The quick change scam typically involves a con artist who confuses a cashier by paying with a large denomination bill or numerous bills, and then changes their mind several times about how he/she wants the change returned to him or the denominations of currency returned.”
