New online presence to help Pound connect animals with owners, homes

Posted by Adam in Local News, 11/6/2019

The Brandon City Pound has launched a new website that promises to significantly support efforts to find homes for found and stray animals.

According to a Brandon Police media release today announcing the launch, when animals arrive a photo is taken and uploaded to the website alongside information that includes where they were found and descriptors such as breed, colour and adoptable status.

The publishing of listings online promises to be an invaluable resource for those that have lost pets as well as those looking to adopt.

Currently listed are eleven dogs and cats including nine listed as adoptable and two shown as “on hold.” According to a list of Frequently Asked Questions on the new website, an animal is placed on hold for 72 hours after arrival after which time they become adoptable.

Costs to adopt include $5 for a kitten, $10 for a cat and $20 for a dog.

The website can be viewed at http://police.brandon.ca/pound/

A Facebook page has also been setup at https://facebook.com/BrandonCityPound
