An ambitious, unique-to-Brandon development is one step closer to beginning construction with recent news of developer Skyline Developments coming into receipt of the title to the property adjacent to Wheat City Golf Course and the Assiniboine River.
Riverside Lifestyle Estates through multiple phases is to have a total of 67 residences beginning with a 43-unit building that would be constructed in a first phase.
Up until this point the developer has been able to accept letters of intent from prospective purchasers, whom were then given a chance to choose a preferred unit in the initial building when it is built. A representative of Skykine tells me that those intended commitments accounted over the past year for between mid-50s and 70% of the 43 units that are to make up the planned phase one building.
Based on now being in receipt of the title, the developer is in a position to accept purchase agreements that allow pre-selling of units within the building. According to Skyline, once approximately 60% of units are pre-sold they will be in a position to quite quickly start construction. When construction does begin it’s estimated to take 18 months from beginning to completion.
As part of the project, an additional 24-unit building will later be constructed in phase two. The current Rec Centre building will also be receiving a major makeover as the Wheat City Arena and Events Centre, not to be confused with the Wheat City Arena of days gone by. When complete the Arena and Events Centre building will include a standard ice skating rink, commercial space, a banquet hall, restaurant, meeting rooms and patio.
By the time all is said and done the full development will resemble this conceptual image:
