With most folks putting the finishing touches on their Christmas shopping in the days ahead, the holiday season arrived a few days ahead of schedule for the Brandon Police Service today with the unveiling of the service’s new armoured rescue vehicle (ARV) at a media event at Assiniboine Community College’s Public Safety Training Centre.
The ballistic armour-equipped vehicle is to be used as part of response to critical incidents, not only in Brandon but throughout Southwestern Manitoba by being made available to other agencies in the area. Capable of carrying up to ten officers, it's expected to allow for enhanced safety both for the public and officers-alike in responding in high-risk situations.

The ARV, first announced late this past spring, comes via nearly $400,000 in funding from the Province. A full press release on the new vehicle can be seen at this link.
