Brandon officially has a new skating area with news today that ice at the recently renovated East End Community Centre will be open and ready for public use beginning at 7pm Friday night.
The skating area includes a new rink with boards as well as a separate free skate space.
Accompanying the new skating spaces are a newly renovated clubhouse that will be available for folks that are changing into their gear. Entrance to the clubhouse is on the South side of the building.

A canteen is on-site with chips, chocolate bars, drinks and hot chocolate. For those who may not own skates, the centre lends out pairs in all sizes. They also accept donations of skates in particularly popular sizes 7 & 8.
In mid-September, renovations that had been taking place at the Community Centre since July were proclaimed complete with the notable exception that conditions naturally wouldn’t be ready for ice until a cool down in temperatures later in the year. Renovations had been carried out thanks in large part to funding from the Co-op Community Spaces program ($75,000) and the Manitoba Building Sustainable Communities program ($75,000).
The East End Community Centre is located at 405 Park Street. Both the rink and free skate area are targeting hours of 7-9pm on weekday evenings as well as 1-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays
