On the heels of a year in which it celebrated arguably the biggest changes in its existence, Brandon’s primary mall is set to kick off 2020 with a change of a different kind.
Beginning with the first day of business on Thursday, January 2, Shoppers Mall Brandon will open a half hour later on weekdays as part of a move to Monday-Friday hours of 10am - 9pm. The most notable changes however will first come into effect on the weekend, where Saturday hours are to now be 9:30am - 6pm. Previously the Mall remained open until 9pm on Saturday. Sunday will see hours extended to 11am - 6pm, staying open one hour longer than what had previously been the case.
In a social media post announcing the changes earlier this month, its said that the changes come based on feedback from visitors and retail tenants:
The weekend hours more closely resemble Winnipeg’s Polo Park and St. Vital Centre malls, which close at 6pm on each of Saturday and Sunday. Winnipeg’s Portage Place closes at 6pm on Saturdays and 5pm on Sundays.
Changes will not effect stores with their own separate entrances such as Sobeys and Shoppers Drug Mart, both of which are maintaining their normal hours into 2020.
Shoppers Mall in 2019 celebrated the completion of an ambitious remerchandising strategy that lead to re-development work that would see tenants such as Sobeys, Shoppers Drug Mart, Dollarama, Goodlife Fitness and Delta 9 open stores at the property. Also developed on pad sites in previous parking lot space were restaurants Swiss Chalet/Harveys, Original Joe’s and East Side Marios.
