The former Casa Blanca Motor Lodge at 2728 Victoria Avenue in Brandon is slated to be demolished in the days ahead to make way for future development, a spokesperson for property owner J & G Group of Companies shared this weekend.
Part and parcel to demolition has been the donation of various materials of value including furnishings, shelving and doors to Brandon’s CMHC Building Re-fit Store. The work of removing and donating said items took place in December. Further work to prepare the site has taken place in recent days including the addition of the necessary construction fencing, setting the stage for the more visually impactful work of demolition of the building itself which could potentially begin as soon as Tuesday according to the spokesperson.

The property had been purchased in the summer of 2017 by J & G. The nature of plans for the property once prepared for development could not yet be confirmed.
Popular local restaurant Sushi Hut shares the same 2728 Victoria Ave address, operating in a separate building to the West of the motel being demolished. Under the terms of the 2017 sale, the restaurant was to continue operations from the same location.
A spokesperson for Sushi Hut has shared that normal hours will be kept while demolition of the building next door takes place. The restaurant is open from 11am - 10pm Monday through Saturday and 12pm - 10pm on Sunday.
