Heritage Co-op gas bar locations in Brandon are in danger of experiencing fuel outages, the co-operative advised in a Thursday evening media release.
According to the release, the current state of available fuel is a direct result of the effect on fuel deliveries of a blockade in connection with a labour disruption at the Regina-based Co-op Refinery Complex.
Heritage Co-op maintains three gas bars in Brandon on Richmond Avenue, 6th Street and 18th Street North. A Heritage representative confirmed late Thursday evening that the city’s locations will still be selling fuel as of Friday morning. In the event of an outage at one or more stations, Thursday's media release states that convenience stores and car washes will remain open.
Co-op Cardlock locations are located on 6th Street and on Highway 10. Cardlock customers are until further notice restricted to daily purchases of 300L of diesel and 300L of gasoline.
Outages had been reported earlier on Thursday at Red River Co-op locations in Winnipeg and area as a result of the blockade. Stations experiencing an outage had been replacing posted prices on signage with “.00” in place of the current pump price.
The local Co-op serves 26,500 members in Brandon, Minnedosa, Wawanese, Erickson, Sandy Lake and Strathclair. In Thursday’s media release it was said that Heritage Co-op will be prioritizing fuel distribution to smaller communities where Co-op may be one of the few sources of fuel.
This post will be updated should further information be learned on any change in status at Brandon gas bars.
