A long-time Brandon auto dealer has been selected for the first time as the recipient of a prestigious award that recognizes the best of its kind in Canada.
Murray Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC learned this week that it has been chosen as a recipient of the President’s Club Award by General Motors for the 2019 year.
Canada is home to approximately 450 GM dealers which are divided into 25 different categories based on size. Each year two dealers from each category are awarded the distinction based on variables included retail sales, customer service index and serving area of responsibility.
Full details on winners by region have not yet been made available, though in the previous year no Manitoba dealer won the award. Three Winnipeg dealerships were honoured for 2017 including Murray Chevrolet’s Winnipeg location.
Awards are expected to be presented later this year.
The President’s Club distinction was introduced in 2016 as General Motors’ successor to the previous Triple Crown award. The dealership had been recipient of that honour prior to the award’s discontinuing in 2008.
Murray’s started in the automotive business in 1926 in Souris, having first sold General Motors vehicles in 1934. An expansion into Brandon took place in 1960. A newly constructed dealership opened at its location at 1500 Richmond Avenue in the city in 2011.
Murray Auto Group operates 32 dealerships across Canada including 13 in Manitoba.
