These Brandon Golf Courses open on Monday

Posted by Adam in Recreation, 5/3/2020

The Province of Manitoba begins its Restoring Safe Services initiative this week by cautiously easing restrictions on some types of businesses amidst the ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of those business types that will be allowed to open with social distancing restrictions on Monday are Outdoor Recreation Facilities including Golf Courses, each of whom are presented with guidelines for both staff and clients to operate under.

Many Brandon and area courses have made the decision to open, those that I'm aware of to-date being listed below.

Deer Ridge Golf Course

Open for the season beginning Monday. As is the case with all courses at present, tee times must be booked ahead. For a listing of social distancing guidelines and policies in place, please see this link.

Deer Ridge can be reached at 204-726-1545.

Glen Lea Golf

Opening beginning Monday. Tee times must be booked in advance, with both phone (204-728-9090) or online (www.glenleagolf.ca) options available. Full rules are posted at https://www.glenleagolf.ca/assets/covid-19-(may-01-2020).pdf

Sunnyside Golf Club

Sunnyside opens beginning with tee times on Monday. As is the case with all courses, prospective golfers asked to call ahead to 204-728-2374 prior to coming to the club in order to book their time.

Wheat City Golf Course

Opening on Monday with a range of new rules in place. Golfers are asked to not show up in person to book a time, but rather phone ahead at 204-728-2299. Tee times will be spaced out over ten minute intervals. Full rules are posted on the course’s website and available for review at http://www.golfbrandon.com

If you learn of more openings, please drop me a note and I’ll be happy to update! All guidelines in place for Outdoor Recreation Facilities including Golf Courses can be reviewed at https://manitoba.ca/covid19/restoring/phase-one.html#outdoor.

Also permitted to open with restrictions as part of Phase One of the Province’s Restoring Safe Services on Monday are retail businesses, restaurant patios, hairstylists and barbers as well as museums, galleries and libraries. A future phase two would take place no sooner than June 1 and may see further easing of restrictions, pending the evaluation of the first phase. For more details on Manitoba’s Pandemic and Economic Roadmap to Recovery one can visit https://manitoba.ca/covid19/restoring/index.html.

Through Sunday, the Province has reported 281 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases to-date including 17 in the Prairie Mountain Health region. The most up-to-date information on the presence of the virus in Manitoba and the response to it can be learned at https://manitoba.ca/covid19/
