You’ve probably figured out by now that we’re in the middle of one of our famous Manitoba cold spells as a “Polar Vortex” has our part of the continent in its grip.
In terms of straight temperatures the -32 low forecast overnight on Friday will probably end up being one of the coldest of the year. With windchill Environment Canada is saying that the “feels like” temp will bottom out at -42 on Friday evening before moderating slightly to -37 overnight.
Saturday isn’t expected to be too much better though by Monday and Tuesday it’s said things will let up enough to be around the seasonally normal -12 that we could expect this time of the year. Being a Manitoba winter, one could be seen as quite the optimist to come away with the thought that thats he last we’ll see of encounters with -40 or perhaps even -50 windchills!
