After approximately one year of construction, the city’s newest bank branch is on schedule to open this coming week.
TD Bank will close its long-time downtown Brandon branch after business on Friday as part of the process of relocating to its newly constructed facility at 1108 18th street beginning on Monday, confirmed TD Bank Manager Corporate and Public Affairs Ian McColl in an email on Thursday.
Despite the excitement around having a brand new physical location in the city to serve their banking needs, the present public health environment means that the bank’s customers will continue to be encouraged to conduct banking remotely where possible in the interim.
“The health and safety of our customers and front-line colleagues remains our top priority,” shared McColl. “Across the country, we continue to encourage customers to avoid visiting a branch unless their banking needs are urgent and must be managed in-person. Instead, we are asking customers to make use of our mobile app, ATMs, online services or phone channel.”
Within the branch itself, best practices will be in place in light of COVID-19 including enforcing physical distancing, limiting the number of customers and staff within the building at the same time, enhanced cleaning and the installation of plexiglass shields.

During normal times the bank would hold an event to mark such an opening, however any such plans are on hold pending the health and safety requirements related to COVID-19.
Hours for the new 18th street branch will initially be Monday through Friday from 10am to 6pm with closure on weekends for the time being.
