As the Province of Manitoba moves towards Phase 4 of its Restoring Safe Services plan, it looks like one more significant business forced to close alongside the pandemic response is preparing to re-open it’s doors on a limited basis.
Landmark Cinemas shared in a Friday media release plans for re-opening of the Brandon Landmark Capitol Theatre beginning next Friday, July 31.
According to the release, among initial movies shown at Brandon, Winnipeg and Winkler locations will be big-screen friendly shows Jurassic Park, Trolls: World Tour, Jaws, Dirty Dancing and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Tickets for Brandon showtimes will go on sale beginning Tuesday with screenings priced at $5.00 per person and a reduced rate of $2.99 on Tuesdays.
Details on specific showtimes were not yet displayed, though the theatre's website indicates Friday-Sunday and Tuesday as days that the local facility would be open. When Brandon showtimes are confirmed, one could expect to see them listed online at https://www.landmarkcinemas.com/showtimes/brandon as well as in the 'Atom' app.
Landmark's Winnipeg theatre at Grant Park is slated to begin showings on Saturday before both Brandon and Winkler re-open on the 31st.
Manitoba’s Phase 4 re-opening plan permits theatres to re-open to a maximum capacity of 30%, up to a maximum of 500 people. Though exact seating arrangements for Brandon could not yet be confirmed, a sample seating map for Manitoba and Saskatchewan locations shows available seats in pairs spaced accordingly throughout the auditorium. As part of its re-openings throughout Canada, the company has posted an extensive listing of health and safety guidelines in place which can be reviewed at https://www.landmarkcinemas.com/moviesarebettertogether/#locations
