Another victim of 2018 fire has returned

Posted by Adam in Local News, 7/26, 7:04 AM

More than two years after a violent fire spread to and destroyed its Downtown building, a Rosser Avenue vendor has re-opened for business following construction of a new building at the same site.

The Cold Beer Store that operates alongside the Empire Inn & Suites returned at its rebuilt home at its same 5th Street and Rosser Ave location on Friday, reports the Brandon Sun, bringing back many of the same staff that had worked at the store prior to the May 2018 blaze.

Construction fencing remains around the exterior of much of the site, with customers initially able to access via the adjacent sidewalk until final exterior work is completed.

Another fire victim, Christie’s Office Plus, began operating of a newly constructed facility at Richmond Avenue East in December following temporarily relocating to space in the Town Centre. The Massey Manor 59-unit apartment building re-opened earlier this year after a reported $8M in restoration to repair fire and resulting water damage.

Construction appears to be underway at the former Pacific Avenue site of Collyer’s Sales and Service and the Brandon Boxing Club, who now operate at 221 Rosser Ave and 1417 Rosser Ave respectfully.

Estimates placed the fire as having caused $25 million in total damage.
