In a year where questions are abound on what our present pandemic reality will mean for fall and winter seasonal traditions, plans are well underway for the return of a popular annual Halloween popup store in the city’s West End.
Halloween Alley is shared via its social media this week plans for the return of a Brandon store for the upcoming spooky season.
The location will be 3409 Victoria Avenue, which in any other year would be a simple story about a store returning to the same address that it could be found at last year. In this case the Westvic Common property at 3409 Victoria has undergone major renovations in converting space formerly occupied by a Zellers department store into separate units as part of a wider play for the property.
This year’s store will be located in the second unit from the West, 10,000 square feet of space directly beside the end unit that is in the midst of construction as the upcoming new location of Princess Dental.

Targeted opening day for Halloween Alley is September 8. Hours will be Monday-Friday from 10am-9pm, Saturday from 10am-6pm and Sunday from 11am-5pm.
According to a store representative, various measures will be in place in lieu of the present public health reality including in-store social distancing markings, hand sanitizing stations, change room wipe downs after each user, costume wipe downs after each try-on, cashier plexiglass barriers and more staffing focused on cleaning. All sales will be final unless there is a manufacturing defect.
The news wasn’t the same for at least two popular area seasonal attractions. Meandher Creek Pumpkin Patch shared last week that it will not open for the 2020 season, in stead preparing plans for the sale of pumpkins and squash beginning in mid-September. Big Brothers Big Sisters Brandon has shared that due to restrictions and guidelines they will not be holding their annual haunted house this year. The popular Grim Acres Scare Away Cancer event is expected to announce intentions for 2020 on Saturday.
