Saturday is last call for Mamma Mia as audience raves

Posted by Adam in Local Events, 1/26, 9:49 AM

The unofficial reviews are in and it sounds like Mecca’s Mamma Mia is a hit.

Based on songs by popular Swedish group ABBA, over the course of approx 2 1/2 hour production (including intermission) a local cast shares their take on the blockbuster musical.

Entering today’s final day of its four day run, folks have taken to the attached discussion thread to share their thoughts. By all accounts it’s a fun night with quality singing and humour with one poster sharing that “From beginning to end it was awesome! So much talent, amazing voices, and even some good jokes.”

A pit musician took to sharing a fun little clip yesterday about how they pass the time before they’re called on and if you listen real closely you might even find a preview of the singing for the show in the background ;)

A quick look at the online ticket ordering system via the Westman Centennital Auditorium shows that as of the time I post this there are still a handful of seats available for each of today’s shows (2pm and 7:30pm).

We’ll next hear from Mecca on April 5/6 with the all-kids show Flat Stanley at the Keystone Amphitheater. Following that will be Shrek the Musical on May 31 and June 1 featuring an all-high-school cast. Their next community show isn’t until November 28-30 when they will be presenting Annie at the WMCA.
