Salary: $44,166 to $53,176 annually ($23.43 to $28.21 hourly)

This position will provide technical support for a Faculty Researcher in the applied research program for the Russ Edwards School of Agriculture and Environment. This position will primarily work out the North Hill campus in the greenhouse complex. This position will work under the direction of Dr. Poonam Singh and will be expected to perform technical functions related to the implementation of research projects, conduct plant maintenance, and compile and summarize accumulated data. This position will provide support for applied research projects in the area of evaluating options for soilless growing media, which includes IRAP and provincial government funded studies. This position may be responsible for the supervision of subordinate staff.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Primary:

  • Setup and maintain research projects as per established protocols and researcher oversight.
  • Collect research data using a variety of data gathering techniques.
  • Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and extension materials.
  • Manage and maintain experiments.
  • Care for research materials.

Secondary:

  • Attend and participate in project meetings.
  • Oversee laboratory organization and operation
  • Inventory research supplies.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be highly detail oriented.
  • Minimum College graduate.
  • Maintain the highest standards of accuracy in both written and practical work.
  • Knowledge of agriculture and/or horticulture.
  • Able to work with a high degree of independently or part of a team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good multitasking, flexibility & adaptability skillsets.
  • Physical ability to complete work indoors and outdoors.
