Original WW1 RCHA P08 Cavalry Troopers Sword
Original British/Canadian Pattern 1908 Cavalry troopers Sword marked on guard: R.C.H.A. for Royal Canadian Horse Artillery - later stroked out for post WW1 reissue. Blade and Guard profusely marked with C broad arrow Canadian acceptance mark on front of bowl below blade, R.C.H.A. H.Q. marked on scabbard throat and stroked out RCHA on guard. Good condition blade with some areas of corrosion mainly towards lower tip. Steel scabbard is bright finish with some flecks, no denting.
It is very difficult to find WW1 Canadian War Dept and Regimental marked swords. The Pattern 08 sword was a combat sword used by British and Commonwealth Cavalry and the Horse Artillery. This example is made by the Royal Arms Factory Enfield and was actually issued/ used in WW1 showing age and duty use but still in good condition.
