Research Assistant provides specialized technical and research support for the College's wild pig research initiatives. Working collaboratively with internal research teams and external research partners, the position supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of wildlife capture, collaring, GPS tracking, and environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling activities. The role ensures compliance with approved animal care and ethics protocols, coordinates research processes and data management, and supports field operations through GIS mapping and environmental sampling.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary:
- Setup and maintain research projects as per established protocols and researcher oversight.
- Collect research data using a variety of data gathering techniques.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and extension materials.
- Manage and maintain experiments.
- Care for research materials.
Secondary:
- Attend and participate in project meetings.
- Oversee laboratory organization and operation
- Inventory research supplies.
Qualifications:
- Must be highly detail oriented.
- Minimum College graduate.
- Maintain the highest standards of accuracy in both written and practical work.
- Knowledge of agriculture and/or horticulture.
- Able to work with a high degree of independently or part of a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good multitasking, flexibility & adaptability skillsets.
- Physical ability to complete work indoors and outdoors.
- Experience working in sterile environments
