Hi is it true that Planet Fitness is coming to Brandon into the old Sobeys building ?

I’d love to see one but wondered where you heard this info?

Unfortunately we do not need another gym in Brandon., just like the many many pizza places here.  
 
Having said that.. looks like Coffee culture maybe on the move to 18th street!

Hopefully it’s a second location for coffee cultures. I love the current location, very handy for Hospital employees as you can just walk right over.

Would you prefer to see the place empty?

A Planet Fitness would clean up in this town. Anyone that says we don't need another gym just needs to visit any of the bigger gyms at peak times of day. They're also half the price of the existing gyms in town (albeit with half the equipment variety of a classic, well-eqipped gym)

Should have made this the library. Nobody wants to go downtown anymore. Library and daycare. Really short on daycare too.

I love the library downtown. It's something that brings me downtown and I'll often do other things while in the area.  
 
It's important to keep services like libraries accessible to all. It's current location is at the hub of the transit system, so people without cars can still get there in a relatively affordable manner. Parking is free as you get a parking token for the parkade (or park on the street after 4 or weekends).  
 
Having a library at the old Sobeys location, while a good spot for a supplementary location (there currently is one in Shopper's Mall) would render it basically inaccessible to many of it's users.

The last thing we need is to give people fewer reasons to go downtown. For me the library is the last reason I really have to go down there on a regular basis. If the City wants to make downtown a more welcoming place they need to keep amenities there, not move them away.
