.... English is an evolving language. It is going to change. There really is nothing we can do about it.  
 
However I too have a pet peeve. It drives me nuts when people use nouns as verbs.  
 
“ I don’t want to adult today!”  
“ My cat forgot how to cat”  
 
Etc.

Here’s a few wrong ones:  
‘awe’ instead of aw  
‘Defiantly’ for definitely  
‘Should/would/could of’ for should’ve, would’ve, could’ve  
‘Seen’ for saw  
‘Wander’ for wonder  
 
Drives me nuts

Also ‘loose’ for lose  
‘Cloths’ for clothes  
‘Axe’ for ask (spoken)

How about the misuse of the word "like". Not only have I heard people using the word "like" in a conversation, I've heard people say it many times in the same sentence. The funny thing is that is is not just in the spoken word, I've seen many written statements and job applications where the provider actually using it like it's completely normal. ie; Me and my sister were like driving down the street...

No one uses take anymore. Bring is used in place of take.

Love it or hate it, unthaw is a word in the dictionary. It has the same definition as Thaw. Just like loosen and unloosen. Both have the same meaning and both are in the dictionary.

"Return back" bothers me. You just return.  
 
On Cbc radio a while back I heard an interview of a language expert. The interviewer was very anxious to get her opinion on a number of things he felt strongly about and was hoping the expert would side with him. The expert took a very soft stance and said that either of his examples were acceptable. She said language is fluid, always changing.

This word should be limited to children.  
 
So many people use this word, it is such a turn off!

A big mistake is how people use the word nauseous. If one is ill a lot of people say they’re nauseous, when in fact the correct term is nauseated. I feel nauseated, not nauseous!  
And breath vs breathe. You take a breath and breathe in through your nose
