Liberty Financial? Scam
10/7/2009 at 12:05 PM
I was just wondering if anyone else out there has gotten a call from "Liberty Financial"? We got one today saying they could lower our interest rate on our mastercard, right! The hubby went on to tell them that we werent interested and they insisted and insisted and insisted. The conversation continued to where the "telemarketer" gave him an extension on where we could contact him if we had any other questions, blah blah. Then he went on to tell us what our credit card number was, how our name was spelt on the card, the expiry date, etc. Bastards. Once we figured it was probably a scam the hubby hung up the phone, we 411 the number and it is unlisted, we were pretty sure that a group that well known would be in the directory, right? We call them back! They answer right away, the same guy and he even knows who is calling. So the hubby askes why he didnt have to enter in the extension they gave him and they claim that it is for after hours use that they have a client re-direct for during hours calls. BS, then we ask how they got our information and asked to speak with the head honsho who then goes on to say that we told the telemarketer that we had more then one credit card, which we did not! We then asked for all the info that they had gotten from somewhere to be deleted and to never call again and then they laughed.
Has anyone else out there gotten a call like this lately? This is what we got for contact information:
