How embarrasing for the officiers who while in the Police Helicotper by accident and not realizing it hit the public access intercom/microphone so Winnipeg citizens below heard illicit conversations. They aren't boys, they are men. And they were on duty. Obviously they have too much time on their hands while up in the very costly-to-fly helicopter. I would think if they had reason to be in the helicopter that they would have more important things to talk about and pay attention to. But that's just me.

Walk a mile in their shoes and see that the "boys" and even the "girls" need laughter in their day to day duties! You know the old saying "If I don't laugh, I'll cry" Stress is a killer!

I don't think the families who had older children that may have clearly heard the convo broadcast from the policemen (whom they're taught to respect) thought it was all that funny.

Nothing more than locker room talk that shouldn't have been heard but did. It was a mistake and a funny one at that.

Just to clarify I did not intend to critize police and know how difficult thier jobs can be. I just thought it was funny, embarrassing and so typical human nature to be caught half cocked, pants down or running off with the mouth, please see the humour and take it as it was meant, a blooper!! Yes boys will be boys (MEN too) and girls will be girls (women) we have all had conversations thinking no one else could hear but these guys were not so lucky. At least they were not disclosing private confidential police information accidently ACCIDENTLY. I was happy to have a laugh over this and that is why I shared, It is better to be in the headlines for this then the killing of a student at Kelvin High don't you think!

Well said and personally I do not think it was so necessary to apologize to the public. How many people (men or women) have a similar talk in public areas and do they apologize probably not. Not because they have uniforms that makes them have to crawl on their knees to the public. They are human. It is not only them to show image to others anybody should show good image. It should be on the news to my opinion...are you on the news when you have bad language. I feel bad for them actually and to their family. They did not knee to be pointed out. A mistake is a mistake it was not on purpose.

1. Supposed to be held to a higher standard.  
 
2. Taxpayer funded employment.  
 
3. Most of us employed folks would expect some type of negative reprecussion for our mistakes made at work.  
 
Lest we forget these same police officers are chasing folks down who have made mistakes. We aren't generally too fond of giving out free passes in that environment, not sure why we would here?  
 
I'd like to think they end up with some form of written on their files. Perhaps even a few days off without pay. But there should be something.

Yup they can screw up will never hear the end of it..... could make 100 arrests and will never hear about it. I am curious as to how many keyboard critics here could do a much better job in their positions. At the end of the day they are still human and not some programed robot. Somehow we all expect perfection out of them yet the truth is it will never happen. People make mistakes. Only thing is media has a good way of putting it out there as it sells. If it didn't make the media nobody would have nothing to talk on here about.

do not need to loose pay or any punishment. Not because they were uniforms they have to be god. No one can be god, no one is perfect. Everybody and parents should show good example and high standard, control their emotions, and be professional. Which work place does talk with not appropriate language and swear words so why people point fingers at them for something you probably do too. Those officers were not talking in public only done by mistake that time.

What it costs to get that Helicopter in the air with a pilot and two officers, I would expect them to be up there for a reason. If they are going to screw around and be unprofessional, I'd rather them not do it when they are flying around in a helicopter that costs the city more than a million a year to operate. They obviously had no legitimate reason to be flying if that's all they could come up with to pass the time. I don't think they should be discipline beyond a stern talking to about professionalism, but I do think the police department as a whole needs to not waste tax payer money by sending officers up for a very expensive joyride.

If the act of fellatio or any sex act was performed in the chopper I'd say fire them! But it was supposed to be a private conversation and it was unfortunate that the microphone was left on by mistake.
