Just curious... why isn't it possible to put in one of those old hand pump water pumps at the dog park? This way it can't be left on, or tampered with. Seems like an old idea would make perfect sense in this regard?..

dog park is built upon land which cannot be built upon. That is why it is a dog park and there are no buildings on it.

The groundwater would be high enough in that area to support a well I am sure...no cistern needed.

If you plan to fund it, perhaps propose your idea to the city.

Otherwise, why isn't it possible to bring your own water for your dog?

Likely the same department working on installing a light for the north hill dog park. We've been waiting 5 years for "we're working on it". Can't pick up dog doo in the dark. Park open til 11pm.

We do have water at the spring just outside the park though. Consolation prize.

Why? is there ALWAYS one (usually more) person who really has nothing constructive to say, but has to throw their negative 3 cents in??

It was merely a question, and I DO bring my ownn water! I was simply asking because it seems like such a simple method to a well utilized park in the city.

If I recall correctly, that land was a landfill many decades ago, so a well isn't going to be possible. Also, there is(was?) a lot of methane rising from it, which is why the buildings there(McGavin's Bread & a mini strip mall) were taken down.

that is correct.

So I guess end of discussion there will never be a well there.

behlen and surrounding area to the west of behlen used to be the city dump early 20th century. good chance the ground water is contaminated

Thank you for the info. I hadn't realized that the ground and groundwater was possibly contaminated.
