Not a New Problem

Drugs have been in Brandon and many towns for decades and probably since there was a Brandon created. They are every where in all places in Canada.
It is naïve the way they go on every time a drug problem arrives that this is new. It's not.
Solution I don't know but I do favor working to stop the flow of drugs. One problem is when the police do arrest someone they are given a slap on the wrist because they had a bad childhood and released out on the streets.
As with just for comparison, like smokers who throw their cigarette butts on the ground and risk a child or a pet being sick or die.
The ones throwing needles, condoms and various other nasty things are risking all of us.
I applaud anyone who cleans up this stuff. Please be careful I don't want you to catch something while you are protecting others.
As to whether drug users would stop throwing needles away, don't think so. Once you injected the drug you drop the needle and are high. Do we really except them when they come down to say, "oh yeah I better go get that needle in case someone picks it up and gets hurt"
Yeah right.
Drugs (illegal or pres:cription)has been and I am afraid will always be a problem.
The solution needs to start with getting the criminals off the street and paying big time: with jail time each and every time getting longer each time they are caught.
More money to police for finding and dealing with it.
