My thought is that if both through lanes are full and you are trying to merge but have no room, it then would make sense that you be the one to yield, not those already in the through lanes.
It should be common sense, but some people maybe need a sign. " |

you are correct
the proper way to enter on one of these intersections is to wait at the entrance of the on ramp until it is safe to merge (even tho its not an actual ramp, its treated like one) That way you have the merge lane to speed up, matching speed of traffic as closely as possible, pick your spot , signal and merge,
same as on kirkaldy, there is not a signage error. People entering 1st are to wait at the corner until it looks like they can merge THEN use the acceleration lane to complete the merge, but 1st has the right of way, that is why there is a yield sign
i find it hilarious that the majority of people complaining about bad drivers are just as confused about the rules :D
