Anyone else notice that their hydro bill is quite a bit higher than last billing? Ours went from 182 to 301. We are not on the equal billing plan. Didn’t think it had been that cold . No unusual extra hydro uses. Rates go up? Thanks

Mine jumped as well, small (but consistent) jump I will probably call after the holidays and find out.

I’m on equal billing and didn’t look closely at my bill to see the actual charges for the last 2 months so can’t comment on if it was higher or if rates went up.  
 
Another thought ... Was one month estimated and the other an actual reading? If the first month was estimated and the second (higher) month an actual reading it would be catching up for an estimate that was too low. If it was the other way around (1st month actual reading, 2nd month estimate) then it could be that they estimated too high, and will work out after next month.

Had not gone up as of my last billing, which was December 7. I am on equal payment but my usage did go up-normal for this weather, I always use a lot through winter.

Yes, my last two bills have been high - $110 & $130 (both read) and I live in a one bedroom suite. I keep my heat at only 16 degrees and was SHOCKED to see the amounts! I have spoken to Hydro several times and they told me that's the way it is. Crazy!!!

Holy cow, that is expensive! I live in a two bedroom apartment and during the winter my Hydro bill is anywhere between $11 and $29 a month. My heat and water is i:ncluded in rent, is yours? If not, maybe that’s why your bill is higher?

My Hydro went up a little bit in August its a house with mostly natural gas heat. The water bill has taken off for me.

Any chance you have Christmas lights on all the time and plug in your car all night??

Mine is almost a 1000$ so yes definitely high, I usually get around 500$ this month.

Must be for 40,000 sqft business or mansion right??

How do some of you afford these bills?!

Bill is 60 to 80 dollars so the equal payment plan makes it affordable all year.

I’m in an older 3 bedroom 2 story house. We are in equalized payments. Our bill has gone from about $150/month last year to about $220/month this year. That’s a significant increase for no significant change in habits.  
This change has been gradual but, I’ve still been meaning to call Hydro to help understand why it’s been so high.

Ours went up from $153/month on EPP from $175 (gas changed from $99 to $112 and electricity from $54 to $63). We did have some changes are we had a baby in January so more laundry etc, and we ran the a/c more due to smoke in the air this summer that irritated our breathing. We live in a 40-year-old 1100 sq foot house.  
 
For those who had a huge jump you must have something drawing phantom power.

I was surprised by our bill for November, since our bill for October was an estimate, which is usually high for us.

my oct bill rate for natural gas are up from 0.08020 to 0.08320 both read difference is a lot for my usage over the 2 months of no changes in the temp in my house (15 degrees) and my bill went from 168 to 240 ... needless to say I called in and went on a monthly plan which I will keep close watch on so I don't get burnt in sept for the fiscal end. I suggest everyone that's on equal billing does the same, nothing worse than a huge debt.

I have to pay for heat and lights as its not i:ncluded with my rent.
