    .... just read the piece. Looks like a beautifully place to live.

    Are the taxpayers on the hook for the railway crossing.ive heard 6.5 million for the 34th street crossing.where is this money coming from

    Hey guys,  
     
    Glad you had chance to read the write-up.
    Couple points:  
     
    - developer told me that a lot of work has gone into preparing the base elevation for development at well above the 1 in 300 year flood level. Was told the fill they have brought in has been armoured with rip-rap for added protection... of course those are definitely questions worth getting clarification from the developer/realtor directly on if going as far as looking at a purchase/investment!  
     
    - re city work on 34th, not sure where the $6.5M number came from? 2019 budget notes a reserve loan of $1.7M for the project:

    A Jan 2018 Brandon Sun story on the 34th extension from when council approved had $135k/year debenture payments versus $174k/year in extra tax revenue (i.e. this was approved as a revenue-positive investment for the city and not a gift):

    Personally I wouldn't enjoy the smell of the river or the massive amount of Mosquitoes that come with it.

    I got one and very excited to see this all come to life! The amenities look amazing. The arena alone is something we need so desperately and if tax dollars are going towards revamping the crossing, roads.. etc. I am happy to hear it! I have young children and with what I saw in the video all of the sledding, hiking, skating and such we will be able to do there I am very excited to see this come to life. No I don’t plan on living there but I do plan to support the shops and other things that I can to see this flourish. Amazing idea and well thought out!
