If they are a fully vaccinated CONTACT of someone who tested positive, they can go to work etc (they do not need to isolate). "
If that vaxxed parent/spouse has no symptoms and does not get tested (not sure they have to be tested if they have no symptoms?)-or if they get tested on day 1 after exposure and are negative then do not get tested again, they could very well be positive and do not know it. If they tested again on day 4 or day 7 they might be positive. The people I have known who had sick children or spouse were tested on day 1 or 2 after the child or spouse tested positive and then never tested again. They continued to go to work during the 14 days the positive family members were isolating.
At the time one bulliten stated that school contacts should test on day 7 or 8 but I don't know if anyone adhered to that-the ones I know went and got tested as soon as they learned of the infection in one of their close contacts and/or showed the onset of symptoms-and I don't know if that is still the recommendation. In any case, my co-workers never showed symptoms and if they spread anything to the rest of us, none of us showed symptoms (nor did our families).
Just because someone gets a negative test today does not mean they would test negative again tomorrow or the next day-so it is still very possible that under current policy a fully vaxxed person could be going to work while positive. There is no wording in those regulations that requires multiple days of testing for fully vaxxed contacts of a positive person.
