Why would the province pay attention to Brandon? Most of Winnipeg thinks Brandon is only about 20,000 people . Manitoba stops at the perimeter.
We need people in provincial office that promote Brandon. "
None of this is a surprise. I have learned long ago that Manitoba is always ALWAYS reactive rather than proactive. Whether decisions about progress are made in Winnipeg or local, solutions only ever come after the fact, and problems that arise only actually become a recognized problem to those who are affected by it directly.
Look to the future of the province, and we will see increased industry, increased trades, above average population increase, and as a result,
higher strains on education, healthcare, safety, security, municipal infrastructure, housing, and even increases in homelessness, substance abuse and crime. But, as I stated, we won't plan accordingly for any scenario, because numbers are only predictive on a going forward basis, even though the obvious results are highy likely.
I feel for the residents of the east end, the lack of proactive insight on the infrastructure issues will be highly problematic, and let's be honest, no one in power in the province is gutsy enough to get the Winnipeg based leadership to pump tens of MILLIONS into properly preventing what will happen with infrastructure issues.
