Name brand placement

Have you noticed the way the stores control your buying choices. I read a while back (perhaps some of you did as well) companies compete for shelf space. Prime location goes to the highest bidder. Next time you’re in a store take a look at the items on display, you may note that one brand is the most prevalent to the exclusion of others. For instance say your looking for a particular brand ( because you like it for whatever reason) so its not there or you can’t readily see it, 9 times out of 10 you’ll buy what’s right in your face( not necessarily big items usually everyday items), unless it’s something really special like Vlasic bread and butter pickles, then you don’t buy any. Only now I’m thinking most brands are the same anyway as in owned by the same company just different names placed on the product, it would be interesting to know. A long time ago I once worked at a now defunct business that sold among other things appliances. The salesman had these little metal name tags that fit in accommodating slots on the appliances, one day they would be one name the next day another, just depended what the customer wanted to buy.
