As for heat etc....it doesn't matter. Once they weld it the perform destressing where they do complex calculations and make cuts to account for expansion etc......although I've seen them get it wrong lol.
They will work at night, run trains during day or other way around to allow each freedom and planning. In summer they would normally actually run trains at night as heat can create slow orders where they have to go slower......not exactly hot now tho lol. Also have to consider impact of lack of light on SOME work. Lights r lights I don't care what anyone says daylight will always be daylight.
On the plus side they are uograding this line which desperately needs it and will be safer because of it. Traffic has increased on it and will continue to increase. " |

people in the west end were complaining about the train whistles/horns and went to city council.
City council if I remember correctly was able to force them to stop. Anyone else remember?
Anyway, people can get used to the noise, it's like living on Victoria avenue.
One winter the crew was out on the rails using a jack hammer after ten at night. Did that piss me off? Damn right it did! I followed up and their boss told me that there was no order to do such a thing that day.
Do you know the noise created by jack hammers on steel rails??
