common, we all judge, somewhat, and you cant find a partner without at least an idea of what you find acceptable and unacceptable behavior, including clothing choices, but who knows people who are ok in Pjs might just find other like minded people or someone whos fascinated and intrigued by someone willing to go out like they do lol but to get miffed because people have there own ideas and values imo would defiantly hinder dating

I've worn pj's out before...when I was younger and it was the "cool" thing to do lol or when I've had pj day at daycare and we went out. It just feels weird now that I'm older....  
 
I live in comfy clothes though (okay, black leggings, I live in black leggings!!) I do sometimes "dress up" for errands but those are the times I run into NOBODY I know....go out with greasy hair, sweats and a dirty shirt, every freaking other person we know!! Lmao  
 
I know we shouldn't judge (but everyone does!! It's life IMO) but if I see someone in pjs while out I do think it's odd...but each to their own!! As long as they're clean and don't smell, I'm good I certainly am not winning any beauty contests myself haha

It is a favorite from that show that should ring here. When Frazer was asked why he always seemed to wear he wears a coat and tie and I paraphrase here. I was taught it was a sign of respect for others.  
 
P'j may feel comfy in and house of the house. How one looks outside to others is their issue not mine. Many clothes worn outside by others say/read messages or goth etc. I simply think as a one off it is okay. Do it all the time there is a respect issue there in my thoughts.  
 
It is easier than ever now a days to wear outside comfy without pj's and showing respect for yourself and others. Yep I am old

Nope! im a pajama wearer and have been with my husband for 23 years now! Look for him grabbing coffee in his Jammies as well as hitting up gas station. We are comfortable the way we are and don't need approval.

I don't own any pj's, so therefore I'm not to shop.  
Isn't it interesting how people do judge people, most times on the first meeting, then after you get to know the person, many of those first impressions seem to fall by the wayside and most people see the person and care every little about all the other stuff.

Right on!! It makes me smile when I see someone shopping in their pjs. I can't bring myself to do that but kudos to them for being comfortable!! I don't leave the house in sweat pants... ever.

If you don't like the idea of pj's shopping then don't wear them. No one is the judge and jury of what someone else wears. If they like wearing them then who cares? How does that affect you?

To each their own...However, i have never done it, nor will let my children out like that...I'm old fashioned and find it shleppy (low German word meaning incredibly unkept). It doesn't take too much effort to throw on pair of jeans...but that's just me...

It's really none of your business why they are doing it. If your so nosy and want to know go ask them then. Who really gives a flying f*ck what you wear. It's better than them going naked to the store. Stop worrying so much about what others are doing and focus on yourself. It's not hurting you in anyway. Gosh some people are so nosy now a days and need to know everything.

If people want to be comfortable its fine. If people want to be judgemental, that's fine too!  
 
Personally, I believe that what other people think is their business and it's not going to stop me from being who I am.

I already put pjs on was giving one of my kids a ride , on the way home got a text of something we needed from the store, ran in, in my pjs, sorry didn't mean to offend you, wasn't thinking about you at all , it just happened

lol. As long as you are covered up I don't see the issue, male or female. Also, did you consider it could be medical? Cause me (male) 3 weeks ago went a whole week wearing sweats/PJ's due to medical reasons - I even wore them at work, in which I felt that silent judgement, but I didn't need to explain myself to anyone because my medical information is private. I went shopping at the mall a few weeks ago under the same conditions. Am I going to be silently judged for that too? Is it going to be assumed I'm a slob?  
 
We are way too quick to judge people.

I love nothing better than going to the drive-through in my nighty. Somehow it feels just a little risqué LOL

I work part time at a grocery store. I honestly don't notice or care what a person is wearing. I'm more concerned about people being polite and kind to me, especially when I have a line six deep and I'm doing everything I can to speed the line along!  
 
Wear your rattiest jammies or your ball gown for all I care, just be nice!!!

Please stop wearing your hunting caps your camouflage pants and duck dynasty tee's. Your clearly white trash red necks. Wearing a suit to wal-mart? Don't you care what others think of you? Your clearly a conceited dick. Wear skirts that cover all but the tips of your toes and a plain cap held with bobby pins? Clearly a fundamentalist Christian or cult member. You woman wearing skirts above the knee? Have some self respect. Your clearly promiscuous and trying for a 1 night stand with the suit wearing dick.  
You Emo's in black with black eye liner and black lip stick, you don't have to advertise you have mental health issues.  
The measure of a man or woman is not the clothes he/she wears its the deeds and actions and attitudes they display. A woman or man in pj's is far more attractive and dignified than you judgemental opinionated conceited douches. I would never think to judge a person by what they wear nor could I imply anything about who someone was based on their clothes thankfully the same cannot be said about the words people speak or what they write. At least you conceited and judgemental know it all's will always be clearly identifiable regardless of the clothes you wear. You can put lipstick on a pig......

You must be a fan of PJ's. Wear what you want, but we are all judged wether we like it or not. Doesn't mean we have to change our ways to please the masses. Best thing is to be yourself and don't let others opinions on the way you dress or whatever get to you. Freedom is great and it should be a cornerstone of Canada's democracy although sometimes I question if we, as a nation really believe in freedom for all or is it really just smoke and mirrors so we can all feel good about Canadian really caring about freedoms. So dress the way you want and be proud of who you are, but know that first impressions are often difficult to overwrite, but not impossible. In a perfect world, one would never be judged. However, in this world, it's in our nature to judge to a certain extent, albeit hopefully quietly.

As a child it was drilled into my head what was and wasn't acceptable to be worn outside the house. I am assuming that this is how the OP was raised or believes. It is the "old time values/rules" that were lived by. My mother worked at a bus depot in the ticket office and always dressed to a T, that was not her way or the way she was raised. For instance my mother would not have been caught dead out grocery shopping or anywhere else for that matter in curlers that was just a no no. I was also taught that you never wore jeans to church. You had your play clothes, school clothes and Sunday best. These things are no longer the norm, anything goes. But i for one understand the OP point of view. I still believe in some of these(not all). To this day i would never consider wearing jeans to church or a funeral, you would not catch me out in hair curlers or PJ pants. To each their own i guess and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

is like singers in the past that would sing on stage dressed nicely exemple men with a tie and now do not sing with a tie, vest, or blazer just with ordinary shirt.  
Same for wedding socials few years ago women used to wear dress and men with ties now people dress as they just came out from the beach.

As long as those people who sleep in the nude aren't wearing their "pajamas" while shopping...

And, the truth resounds. Judgement is inavoidable, but not necessarily a good thing. I tend to observe these judgemental standpoints from the distance, and simply avoid those people for their vain ego driven superficiality.

I've got to agree with the whole thing of, finding the pj's display far more attractive than the opposite. It helps to show me who is comfortable living their lives, without that surface driven concern. But also, let's not forget that some people just don't gaf. That's dangerous too.

Not a lot of fashion trends coming out of this little town...we only get dressed up when we leave the city...

At least it is better than showing up to a job interview in pajama pants, or sweatpants for that matter.

Even if the OP shows there are exceptions to every rule, majority posts in this thread seem to back the Ann Landers quote:

I'm one of the lazy, no self-respect, person. I will go out in my pj's! I'm covered, Judge me based on what i wear, could care less! That's like saying a girl wearing a short dress, and high heels is a hooker, or she's asking for trouble...give you heads a shake. If you dont' want to wear pj's, then don't.  
 
I have a man who loves me as I am, pj wearing and all. I have a great job, a loving family, and if I'm not going to make a friend, cause i'm wearing my pj's...then i don't want to have that person as a friend. Wear what you folks want, it's called expressing ourselves, does not mean we are not a person, does not mean we are lazy, does not mean we have no self respect or confidence, it means, i don't want to change out of my comfy clothes, just cause i'm going to mall...next thing you people are going to say is that wearing sweat pants is the same as wearing PJ's....  
 
I love who i am, and so does the people i have in my life, and that's why they are in my life.

I have a lot of self respect, so much that I don't need yours.  
 
I have a great job and career, and when I'm at work I dress to impress. I want the people I serve to respect me, because I have a job where I impart my opinion on others and give directions and offer corrective solutions, personal appearance plays a big part in that.  
 
Now, when I'm at wal-mart, who am I really impressing while I push my cart full of cat litter, dog food and laundry detergent and the like? Has wal-mart really been the place where the social elites go to network!? Dress for the occasion! When I'm out grocery shopping (which, for me is usually early Sunday morning) I'm performing a task, and like many other manual tasks, I wear appropriate clothing. This means I save my nice clothes for work or social occasions.  
 
And, as far as self respect goes, I have enough to spare, I don't need yours while I'm buying my bread and chicken!

Baseball caps worn during supper at the KEG? pj''s - not my personal choice, but you can''t take your cap off in an expensive restaurant? I think there''s a link there between the 2.  
Great point on the job interview, I''ve interviewed many, many people over the years, and its more often than not the young people who are drastically under dressed for the interview.(sweat pants, blue jeans, beach sandals etc) I can only guess its the appearance ''standard?'' set by mom and dad. Consequently if I''ve had 2 qualified people for the same job, guess who I hired? Judgmental? not if your going to represent that company.
