I like hearing little snippets of what's in the paper.

I don't mind it. It's better than some other stuff that could be done like the prices on the stock exchange.

It is annoying some days more than others. Sometime Glen Parker makes some really dumb comments though.

I agree with the OP! I'm so happy it's not just me who dislikes this. No disrespect to any parties involved, but it sounds like the Brandon Sun guy is totally bored with talking about his paper and while the radio hosts try and engage him about the stuff, it just falls flat. Awkward is my main word to describe it. It makes me cringe every time because of how awkward the whole exchange is.

Glen sounds uninterested and sometimes his comments are almost mean. It does generate some interest in the stories for me but because I dislike the segment so much I refuse to buy a paper after I hear it.

Driving the kids to school when it is on and none of us can stand it....pretty painful to listen to at times. Headlines given and usually same things as comments. Radio people try to keep it exciting and Glen sounds bored. We have started to turn off the radio for those few draggy minutes. Last week there was a terribly akward moment when he said something kinda odd about the new art gallery exhibits.

I have to agree with the OP. I actually find it HILARIOUS how deadbeat he is and how Tyler and Amber try to make it more exciting. Amber also tries to move it on quickly when he says something off the wall. I'm sure he's a great guy, but that segment is PAINFUL! I listen to it for laughs, and it does interest me in the paper on occasion...

Couldn't agree more as well. I'm actually surprised it's been going as long as it has. Parker sounds like it's a waste of his time somedays some of the crap he says is ridiculous. Not sure if he's trying to be funny but normally he isn't even close. Maybe they should do a little prep with him before they go on air.

I am so glad it''s not just me!!! I change the station immediately when it comes on because for me it''s cringe-worthy at this point. I think it has run it''s course... I appreciate that some people enjoy it and that the purpose of it is to get people interested in what is going on and to buy a paper (and I think people should support the local paper!)... but I have to say for me it probably does the exact opposite! LOL. I picture Parker sitting at his desk in the morning thinking "Ah crap, it''s 8:15. I gotta call the darn radio station again." LOL

I to hate when there is more then 1 DJ in studio they try to over talk each other & natter about nothing it''s very annoying I to shut off the radio .

I very rarely get to listen to the station or read the paper so I'm the last one who can give an opinion on execution in this case... but in an era of media fragmentation generally speaking I think cross promo can be a great thing for media outlets and audiences. For anyone that has an issue with execution in this case, do you have any constructive ideas on how to make it better? I'm assuming simply reading off the day's Sun headlines as part of the news wouldn't be engaging enough on the air? Is there an angle with having a person or two from the audience/community phoning in to chat about the top story, without going as far as it turning into a more lengthy "Feedback" kind of show (that's what CKLQ is for).  
 
As far as cutting back the amount of talk to a minimum, personally think that'd be a mistake. The local chatter element has to be one of the main things that distinguishes a traditional radio station from the Spotify and Apple Musics of the world by making a station local. There has to be some kind of happy medium.

I agree with you Adam - the banter isn't bad. While it is maddening when it becomes too much (your morning drive should include SOME music) I find that they do a pretty good balance - and I enjoy some of the opinion and news items, I'm sure lots care about the sports scores of the local teams etc. And Tyler and Amber do a good job of the morning show, they compliment each other nicely and I don't find them talking over each other or bickering. If you take out the banter, you might as well go to Satellite radio, Spotify, or good old CD or MP3 - which are nice options for me when the banter gets to be too much, which it certainly can.  
 
As for constructive criticism on "Between the Sheets", I was also trying to think of that. I think for one, Glen just really doesn't have a voice or 'spunk' for radio. (Sorry, Glen) Maybe they should switch up who does the spot, to shed new light. I think getting members of the public in on it would be a mistake - it might turn into Sound Off 2.0 if that happens, and unless it is not live radio, you run the risk of offensive and nonconstructive opinion running rampant on the show. I think that perhaps less frequency (like say, running it on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or Monday, Wed, Fridays) and with someone new who has a bit more of a voice for radio could improve things quite a bit.  
 
Even when they intern different DJ's etc, there are just some people with a knack for the radio talk and some that don't. From tone of voice, to awkward silence, to rambling... it's quite an art. (one I could never do, just to be clear - for that very reason). They need to get a different person on from the Sun, or perhaps do a bit of a rotation.  
 
Just a thought for a way to improve!

Wow Macbook and a few others must be Gary Dell'abate king of all radio I'd like to see you step up and do a better job. Guessing you've never heard of marketing.  
 
I find Councillor Parker to be very interesting and entertaining, and it does the job of peaking my interest of that days paper. It's refreshing to hear some real news in amongst all the fake news that social media brings us these days.

Not a fan of the segment or Glen Parker either. I have heard too many insulting comments he has made about people. Is this segment meant to intrigue us into buying The Brandon Sun so we can read what they are talking about?

Local radio stations need to realize they're in direct competition with streaming music. They need to offer something quick and local. If it isn't meaningful with little distruption they'll be obsolete and off the air.

This is the exact reason i gave up listening to FM radio 3 years ago, i paid for satellite radio and i haven't listened to an FM channel since. They still have periods of talk and information with an actual host, but it isn't useless talk and noise. This is the perfect amount. Any local news i need to know about ill look online.

I can listen to an online station or Spotify playlist and hear hundreds of different (but good) songs over the span of a week. There are literally thousands of stations for every genre of music that are either ad-free, or have only national advertising. If I want local news via radio, I listen to CBC, but it's much easier to just look at news online. Traffic reports? Get em online. Weather? It's never more than one tap away on my phone.  
 
So why on earth would I listen to a local station that plays the same 30 songs OVER and OVER again for months on end? I work in an office where the local stations are on sometimes, and it astounds me that people listen to it by choice. Who really wants to hear "Moonlight Desires" by Gowan every single day? Or the same Luke Bryan or Carrie Underwood song up to 5 times in one day? Don't people get sick of hearing the same songs 10 or 20 times a week?  
 
In regard to this segment, I find it completely uninspired. Forced and monotonous.

It's an incredibly awkward segment. The banter feels unnatural, and Mr. Parker often seems like he'd rather be somewhere else.  
 
I like the concept, but the execution is poor.  
 
I generally change the station if I'm in the car when it comes on.

If I want talk, I listen to CBC or TMZ. Less talk, more music please.
