I am taking some distance courses and am not enrolled in any educational institution in Brandon. Having said that I am a former BU student and I know the facilities there as well as ACC.  
 
My question is, where would you recommend someone like myself go to get in some quality study time? I know some may suggest the coffee shops but they can often be distracting.

I was a former ACC student. I had a great experience there. I liked that it's more practical and what you are wanting to learn is exactly what they teach. After graduating I took a couple Continuing Studies courses and enjoyed them as well. The instructor was really good and would go above in helping you with anything.  
 
My only issue is that it is quite expensive for the Continuing Studies classes and the admin staff were quite unhelpful at times. There is a minimum needed to hold a class too so you have to depend on other people being interested and comitted to learning the same thing you are. Otherwise I am a big supporter of ACC.

honestly when i do online courses i find at home is the best most non-distracting place but if you want i see no reason why you couldnt use the library at BU or the common areas

just to clarify, I am not looking to enrol in an educational institution. I am simply looking for good places to study my material and exam prep in Brandon.

I was an ACC student I would use the BU library to study often. ACC seriously lacks in places to do work and study. I don't see any issue in using the BU library.

Maybe the Brandon Library. It's big, spaced out, they have tables there and access to computers if you need one, granted you may need a library card to at least access the computer but you don't need a card to gain access to the library itself unless you want to borrow books.

students studying in a popular local coffee shop and I often wonder how they can concentrate because of the conversations going on!  
 
Library would be good, it is so quiet in there.

When I was in university I usually studied at Forbidden Flavors in the back room! Depends how busy it is though

Oddly enough, I really like the bowling alley. The music and noise of the bowling serve as really great ambient noise, and the glow lights highlight the pages and everything else is dark, so distractions are limited. There are places to sit that are not directly in the alley area itself. Probably not a solution that works for everyone, but it works for me

I agree with the idea of libraries...but there are other nooks and crannies at the schools which can be used as well.
