But for others to say on here we will have more accidents like this one is a far cry from reality. The studies I have read all say that those on marijuana know so and thus slow down to compensate. You won't find someone doing 100+ in town high on pot. You will probably find them doing about 20 under the speed limit and getting paranoid on every crown vic that goes by thinking it was a police officer lol.

All mj users with the same brush are we? So mj users (all of them from what you say) know to compensate their impaired state by reducing their speed accordingly. Wow! I would believe you if you said that probably most mj users will be be smart enough to compensate speed because of impairement. I may believe that to a certain extent. To be clear, I don't believe that one joint would necessarily impair a driver to the point where they're unable to drive. Same goes for someone that drives after one beer for example and I do know that some look for only 0% alcool blood level as acceptable, but I am not in that camp and same for mj use.How many mj's can one smoke and still drive responsibly? I don't know and it probably varies from user to user. However, to take your example of someone becoming paranoid because of mj consumption and driving. IMO at that point they're impaired to a level where driving should be considered a criminal offense. I know I'll offend many here but impairment from mj should be treated the same as impairment from alcool. " |

To clear the air here... I am only taking what I am reading and putting it into my own context. Here let me copy and paste from the link so I am not painting nobody or saying crap to be taken the wrong way. This is what the studies have found. Take it how you want.
"Nevertheless, this impairment does not appear to play a significant role in on-road traffic accidents. A 2002 review of seven separate studies involving 7,934 drivers reported, “Crash culpability studies have failed to demonstrate that drivers with cannabinoids in the blood are significantly more likely than drug-free drivers to be culpable in road crashes.” This result is likely because subject under the influence of marijuana are aware of their impairment and compensate for it accordingly, such as by slowing down and by focusing their attention when they know a response will be required. This reaction is just the opposite of that exhibited by drivers under the influence of alcohol, who tend to drive in a more risky manner proportional to their intoxication."
And.....
"Today, a large body of research exists exploring the impact of marijuana on psychomotor skills and actual driving performance. This research consists of driving simulator studies, on-road performance studies, crash culpability studies, and summary reviews of the existing evidence. To date, the result of this research is fairly consistent: Marijuana has a measurable yet relatively mild effect on psychomotor skills, yet it does not appear to play a significant role in vehicle crashes, particularly when compared to alcohol."
Take it how you want. If you already have a negative opinion about marijuana nothing would change your mind anyway and honestly I could really care less. But for people to say were are going to see major auto crashes once it becomes legalized should maybe do some more research.
