So....here's my dilemma, on which I need some advice. My fiance, and I are due to be married in less than a month. When rounding up paperwork for our license, and making sure we had all relevant info I noticed that my fiance didn't have the proper 'divorce certificate' necessary..only a petition for divorce (7 years prior!). When he ventured down to retrieve the proper document, he was informed that although a petition had been filed, an actual divorce had never been finalized. Knowing nothing about divorce myself, but after some research, I understand that once a petition has been filed, a judge must look over the case (no kids, no property, money to split...etc) grant a divorce and 31 days later it is final. We just don't have 31 days....does anyone know if there's a way to have it done any quicker?
