The Cougar?

What is a cougar? I have heard so many different descriptions of this. Is it a older woman who dates a younger man? Or is it more like the older woman who preys on young,innocent males. Is her natural habitat bars and gyms? Is she dressed like a 18yr old when she is in her 40s. What is the age of a cougar? Does she wear her make up like wax? Or, is she just a woman who takes very good care of herself and can still be attractive to the younger male? What is the attraction for young men out there for cougar's? Can anyone out there clear up this confusion?
