why does dating have to be so complicated?

Hi I just wanted to get some advice on dating now a days i have been in the dating scene for a year and a half and that was after being with one person for 10 years. now i've felt a little undateable because i have three kids and usually as soon as i mention that they run as fast as they can lol. So i guess what i was wondering is what are the rules of dating now? And what am i doing wrong cause i honestly cannot find a decent guy and when i do he's to shy and chicken to do anything about it...HELP!!!!
