Great Lesson In Human Relations, We Just gotta Be nice to Each Other

As of late I have been working with a new individual as my regular workmate is on vaction. Just like every workplace there is competition and differences of opinion, well long story short(few of mine are)it was looking like the bomb was going to drop and a confrontation was inevidable. So Thursday morning on my way to work I thought long and hard how I was going to deal with the situation when it arose (and I was convinced it would). I decided to give my workmate the lead and he would have to initiate a plan for the days work. After listening carefully and letting him relate to me how he thought it best to accomplish the day's objectives, I agreed, gave hime credit for his efforts, then I injected my perspective for his consideration. To my amazement he saw how my views would make things a little easier for him. We agreed on a mutual arrangement and proceeded to execute the plan. The day was the most enjoyable one I have had working with this guy . On the ride home I reflected on the day and I realized the only thing I had done different was honor this fellas opinion, (I am the employee in charge in our workplace), give him credit for his knowledge, and listen to what he had to say. I realized then and there "A Good Coach has to be a Team Player". Funny, how a new set of principals and practises I have been applying to my Marriage and the rest of my life worked so easily in my workplace. Bottom line "Speak to others, as You Would like to be Spoken to".
