Divorces

We like to have discussions at work and there is an ongoing debate of the home when a couple divorces. If the lady and her children reside in the home, does she still legally owe the other spouse half a payout to the value of the home and does the spouse whom is residing outside of the home have to help pay the bills when the rest of the family is residing there.
