This is a little embarassing. Im a male in my early 40's. Just out of a 10 month relationship.  
I'm not very social. I have kids that live with me.  
I'm just looking for someone to chat with for now. Maybe hang out with too. Not looking for FWB or a "hook-up".  
...yes, preferably, I'm searching for a female.  
Yet, Im open to meeting new guy friends as well. lol

It's frustrating trying to make genuine friends the older you get , I'm in the same kinda position more or less: except my kids are furry ones haha

I had a really great response to this thread. Much better than expected.  
And, even though I wasn't looking for or expecting it, I found a girlfriend. It's serendipity in the truest sense of the word.

I have been here a few years and am in my late 30s. It seems the older I get the harder it is to make friends. Brandon is extremely cliquey and unfriendly.

Since I began this discussion with the intention of finding new friends, I thought Id through out the idea of having a meeting night. I know there is already one on Saturdays at The Dock.  
I would be willing to facilitate the evening. The Dock is a nice place to meet. Maybe The Double Decker? Huggies Sports lounge?  
I enjoy playing pool and thought it could be a good way to meet people.  
Let me know what you all think and, be patient... it will take some time to organize..

It will be interesting to see if another group of people can get out and meet each other, I am interested! I'm a 32yr old female who enjoys outdoor activities, shooting pool, bowling etc. outside of my professional career but it has been difficult to find others with similar interests.

with what many are saying. I am mid 30's, enjoy outdoor activities, shooting pool, etc. and like others realized POF is not overly a place to meet friends. As well as, the older you get the harder it seems to meet people, even with volunteering and such. I am also looking to meet new friends, male or female. As Genevieve said, can be difficult meeting people with similar interests it seems. Will be interesting to see if another group meet up happens.

This town is very clicky and I find if you don't drink every weekend, have kids in hockey, or live in the west end your SOL...Now I'm generalizing so don't beat me up for it. My husband and I have 2 kids and have lost touch with all of our high school/college friends and can't seem to find another set of parents with kids that just want get together for cards or a supper at home. We have tried and either get groups that are quite a bit older than us( our parents age) or people that just want to go to the bar???

I'm in my 30's as well and looking to meet people out of work circle, but I'm new to the city and don't know how/where to meet people.  
 
1) I'm done with bar scene, so that's a no go.  
 
2) Volunteering turned out much like professional environment, so it's better not to mess-up (in case) there.  
 
3) Small talks at public places like gym/coffee shops/grocery ends there itself.  
 
4) No point in searching online, as I never came across a human (I'm pretty sure) over on-line, it's more like a computer texting on the other end.  
 
I get advise that I should look in the right places, but I just don't know where that mighty place is. Is it here in Brandon?
