I am I in the minority by disliking Valentines Day? It's wonderful if you happen to be in a relationship, but what about the people who are perpetually alone and looking in from the outside? For myself, Valentines Day is just a Hallmark occasion to remind me that I'm still single while the people I grew up with have spouses and families, while I am still waiting for a relationship. It rewards the popular people and punishes the outsiders (the scene from the Simpsons Valentines Day special always plays in my head where Lisa tells Ralph that she was pitying him, not that she liked him )Just wanted to gauge how many other people feel the same way.

I have been single for 30 years, my entire life. Not once have I felt bad on Valentine's Day because I'm single. I don't even think much of it at all and have never understood why people are so against it.

and have been for years-Valentines day doesn't bother me in the least. Never has.

Even when I was single, I don't remember ever hating Valentine's Day. To me it's a day of love and there are many people in my life that I can celebrate my love for/with  
 
I don't even understand the hate for the day by people in romantic relationships. "We celebrate our love daily", "it's just a Hallmark holiday", "I don't need a day to tell my SO I love them" etc.....it's just a day to take the time to tell others that we love them and our relationships with them. It can be extravagant or a construction paper card, it doesn't matter!! Who doesn't want to hear that someone loves them?

My ex never forgave me for bursting out laughing when she emerged wearing the "sexy" apparel I gave her. Good thing I also gave roses and chocolates, or it would have ended earlier

I don''t even think about Valentine''s Day really, I think it is another holiday (if you can call it that) that just makes you spend money for no reason. Sounds like you are quite sensitive about feeling alone. Talk with someone about those feelings and maybe when Valentine''s Day rolls around it will bother you less.  
I also prefer to see it as love Day, it doesn't have to be a spouse you show appreciation for......why not anyone or anything you love, like a friend or pet!

I also don't understand the negativity. Why can't it be fun and silly? Why can't it be cheap? Hand written notes to family and friends are cheap and heartfelt. Buy one small bag of chocolate for $5-10 and hand them out throughout the day. Or volunteer somewhere and make somebody else happy. This does not need to be a "couples" day. Get together and have an ex bashing session with your friends if your feeling particularly negative. Your attitude is what makes or breaks the day/holiday!

and don't really care about Valentine's Day one way or another. There's even been years when I've been very busy and have forgotten the holiday entirely. Last year I bought a package of kiddie valentines and handed them out to coworkers and friends as a kind of joke, and everyone loved it! I definitely don't feel upset about the holiday, if anything I enjoy the post Valentine clearance. I try to go to the store the day afterwards and cash in on some cheap candy haha.

I have been in a relationship for some time now and still hate this Hallmark Holiday. My SO could care less either way really. So often all we do is make pizza and watch a movie. We both agree no need to "show" our love by spending money or making a big deal out of one day. I like the random things through the year better, not it forced on me because it's Valentine's day.

Valentines Day is not just for couples, its a day of love, love for your family or children or parents , Grandparents any family members. you don't have to spend money , spent time together with whoever you love.
