Planning to go to the states next week...travelling by car through Boissevain...will they accept any other forms of ID or am I out of luck????

Just call the border crossing. They will ask some neat questions. Just call before leaving the house so you get the same person you talked to one the phone. I’ve crossed without a passport lots

I think entry would be based on who you get. We bought a boat back in Feb. and we forgot our passports and only had drivers license. It took us about 10 times longer to get into the US. Plus the guy ripped us a new one the whole time about carrying proper id with us.

Better half did it a few months ago. She was going to Minneapolis and didn't realize her passport had expired until literally the night before they left. After calling both Dunseith and Pembina ports both said she would have no issue crossing. And they were right, she didn't even get asked about it being expired.  
 
Now her passport was only expired by about a week. If you had a 5 year old passport that would likely be a different story.

Pretty sure it was only $30, call MPI and make an appt it is fast and easy.

You need a passport to proceed. There should not be any exceptions.
