I have been presented with the opportunity to pick up a couch set and a bed from a location 3 hours away. I looked at U-haul and it is outlandish how expensive that would be. Does anyone know if there is any other companies out there that would be able to rent me a larger box truck (is that what it's called?) or even a large van? I'm getting a tad frustrated in my search. I have a mini van myself (no hitch sadly) and have contemplated doing 2 trips...but I'm just trying to find some options! Thanks

Home depot has a van that you can rent for the day, which is all I would need, but it doesn't show Brandon on the list of places... hmmm I'll give a call later on today, but has anyone gotten one from there before?

They have Ford Transit van for rent. You can't reserve it online, you have to call them. But plan ahead because they only have 1 or 2 of those vans and they are quite popular. Unlimited mileage and quite spacious. Ask about dimensions when you call to make sure it will fit your load.

If it’s a place many people travel often maybe you could ask someone to pick it up for you with a fee? Do you have any friends or family members with a truck you could borrow yourself?

Maybe install a hitch on your van, then rent a trailer? Depending what that costs, it may be a viable solution if you can make use of it again in the future.

At what point, finacially, will it not be worth it? What are you getting vs. looking on ebrandon and seeing what you could buy used locally (I'm assuming it's used furniture). If it's going to cost you $500 to rent a truck and buy gas for a 6-hour round trip, you might be better off just buying locally off the classifieds.  
 
Just a thought. Experience has taught me that "free" isn't always the besy deal if there's lots of expenses attached to it.

Thankyou everyone for your awesome comments! I'm stll not 100% sure as to what I am going to do..., I think renting a truck is going to be out of the questions , and yes I'm seeing that "free" might actually cost me way more in the end... (I'm heading west for those that asked).

One of the forums im on that is very popular in BC Alta and Sask has a courier thread and people post up if they need something from some where or if they are going some where they ask if anyone needs something brought back. It’s very helpful and used a lot. Should we start one on here?

Saw a post on Fb of someone coming from Winnipeg to Brandon with an empty trailer, asking is anyone needed anything hauled.  
Not sure if that is where your stuff is located.
