Trying to figure out where we want to go on our next trip in the winter. Looking for peoples experiences good and bad. Thinking possibly about the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, The Cayman Islands. Please let us know what you liked or didn’t like!

We didn’t love the Bahamas. It was very run down with abandoned buildings everywhere. The resort was nice, but we felt very unsafe overall. Although not the Caribbean, we did Hawaii in January and LOVED it! We went to Kauai and will definitely be back.

I've heard good things about st maarten. Although not sure of it recovery since a hurricane a year or 2 ago.

I would be skeptical about traveling to any of those places.

There are lots of beautiful Caribbean islands to visit, it all comes down to budget, what specifically you want out of your holiday (relaxing, adventure, etc) And something to keep in mind is that if you’re not wanting the usual (Mexico, Dominican, Cuba, Jamaica) you won’t have a direct flight from Winnipeg and may have to overnight it in Toronto. One of my favourites is St. Lucia.

If you are an "all inclusive" type person and no plans on leaving the resort then it really doesn't matter where you stay. Mexico, Dominican, Cuba, they all look the same from inside the fence. The only difference would be the weather. If you like it Hot, think about Jamaica. Usually +30'C during the day and maybe down to +26'C at night. Negril has 5 miles of unbroken beach with bars and restaurants along most of the way. If you like to walk or just park yourself in a lounge chair and soak up the sun, I'd say Negril Jamaica for sure. The best part is you can take the 6AM flight out of Brandon to Calgary and then a direct flight to Montego Bay all in the same day. West Jet has direct flights Saturdays and Sundays during the high season (November-March).
