anyone been to Boston?

I am looking to plan a trip to Boston to watch some hockey next January (still unsure of the dates, just waiting for new hockey schedule for the bruins). I am just looking for some input of cheaper places to stay around TD gardens and some sight seeing attractions.
P.S. Go bruins!!!
