I have been to the Dells. Great place, but you might want to check Trip Advisor and look at reviews for your hotel. You need to take reviews as a balanced take. Looks like a nice place.

I'm here at the Kalahari Resort now (yes, and still checking ebrandon... I know.) I'm finding that resort food is pricy. We grocery shopped and stocked our fridge for the next few days. Some of the fast food stuff is okay, but $20/person for a buffet and $5 for a smoothie by the pool can't be a continuous thing. Walmart is easy to access. Although outside food isn't permitted in the pool areas, so planning will help.

If you're staying at the main resort then you'll be fine. It's when they book you in the offsite rooms, that's another thing as those rooms are bought up old motels that they slap some paint on.  
Read the reviews. They can't be all wrong.  
 
We stayed at the Kalahari last summer and it was really good. As another posted stated, it was pricey but that expected in that area.

We booked and didn't realize we were in a motel down the street, we assumed in resort since it said resort!  
 
It was a run down motel, no wifi, leaking fridge, empty pool and a broken swing, it was seriously a classic creepy run down motel!  
 
We stayed that night as we were all tired. Next day went to main resort and complained (politely) about broken fridge and no pool and were offered an upgrade to the main resort for a nominal fee. Well even if had been a huge fee, SO WORTH IT!  
 
If you can stay in main resort, right on site, it's worth it. No packing up the car and hauling towels and bags etc! We were able to saunter over to the water parks and then back to room for a break and back down, it was so easy and convenient!  
 
As for the off resort motels, we had no idea, we didn't do enough research and made assumptions with the word "resort", our own fault for sure.  
 
That all being said, Dells was absolutely fantastic and had a great time - you will love it, it's Vegas for families, always something to do or see!

Most definitely the main resort is the best place to stay. We went 2 years ago and booked to stay in the main hotel or what we thought was the main hotel ended up being almost 3 blocks away. With 3 kids under 8 at the time there was no way they would walk all the way there then walk the grounds and then be able to walk back so we had to load up the car to go back and forth which was not handy. Next time we go it will be the Kalahari for us.

We stayed at the Wilderness Resort two years ago and we are planning to go back there this summer. Top notch place that only allows hotels guests to use the facilities, which cuts down the excessive crowds. (Little pricier/night but so much to do on one resort!)

Stayed at mount Olympus and they do have a few properties. I believe hotel Rome is the main resort which is probably walking distance. We stayed at one of the other properties which was at least half the price and it was about a 2 minute drive which was fine with me. Also included free parking. The motel was very basic but it was clean. We were only there to sleep. I believe when you are a guest there, you get to stay longer or something along that line. I would definitely stay there again. If you like wave pools you are going to LOVE Poseidons Rage. Warning...hang onto your bathing suit!! I am very jealous, have a great time.
