My husband and I are going to Vancouver for 4 nights next week. We are in our late twenties. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on where to stay and things to do. We are looking for something affordable in a good area. Much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is a day trip that picks up at all the big hotels-takes you everywhere and stops at Stanley Park, Granville Market, other interesting places in the city, drivers are very informative-good for all ages

Get a day pass for transit. You can ride bus, sky train and sea bus. Gets you everywhere in city.  
 
Go walk or rent bike and do stanley park along sea wall.  
 
I think it's Robson street is lots of neat little shops.  
 
North shore has a cool market.  
 
Grandville island has stores and and stuff to see.

Nice Hotel with great views.

It's really an amazing place, your can jump on a boat taxi and go to various places.. Tons of cool shops and of course places to eat!!!

One place I'd go to again is Rodney's Oyster House. If you love raw oysters, check it out....they also have awesome Ceasars lol

Robson Street and downtown is great at night!!! Stanley Park is awesome, and you could kill a whole day just making it through the park. Granville Island is definitely worth checking out, and if you enjoy beer the Granville Island brewery is located down there. The ferry trip over to the island is worth it as well. We saw killer whales on the ferry on the way over. Also lots of great food in Chinatown, but gets a bit sketchy down there at night.

Just returned from Vancouver. Stayed at The Buchan Hotel in the heart of the west end. Great place with amazing location - just off Denman / Robson Street and 3 blocks from Stanley Park. We got the room with shared bathroom / shower (very European). Room was modern bed and TV with sink, then a few bathrooms and showers down the hall. Nice Bistro right beside it and a ton of other eating options right close. Was about $110 which is about half of next cheapest. Highly recommended!

in a pinch try - park inn and suites - was most reasonable i could find that was close to the city.  
ask to be on the north side of building if you want a view of city / harbour.

You can also go to Richmond, there's a lot of restaurants the that selling fresh seafoods and yummy stakes and the beer also.
