Is there anywhere in Brandon that would have Pesos on hand? Will I need to order it in advance from a bank?  
I have already checked both CIBC's and CAA - no luck

You may luck out and find a bank with some on hand, but generally you need to order them.

Hi, I had a hard time finding pesos at a bank. No bank has any on hand you have to order them ahead of time. I didn't know this and didn't have time to order before my trip. Then someone told me there's a kiosk at the Winnipeg airport that carries them. I was able to order them the day before and pick them up before my trip - I cut it super close but all was well and I got a better rate from them than the bank - hope this helps and good luck

I would suggest if it is possible , just go to an interact machine at a bank , in Mexico and you will get a much better rate compared to a bank here .this is the rate right now at Scotia bank in Mexico .

If you get Pesos here it is a roughly 3-5 business day wait .

Just get them when you are in Mexico. That way you will get the best rate and only need to exchange/withdrawl what you need then having extra and having to exchange back. You can use your debit card at ATMs all over the place. You can also exchange cash at banks and money exchanges. Banks generally give better rate. Have fun

the kiosks in most every airport will gouge you a high percentage on any exchanges made, and will only dispense or accept the larger bills. Something to remember on your way back as well.  
 
I've been looking at the fluctuating peso/cdn $$ rates lately, and doing some research. The exchange rate is at one of the highest levels its been since the end of the world in 2012. So, it's a great time to buy now. Especially if you are like me, and planning a trip south.  
 
CIBC told me they can have them on hand within 5 business days. Or have them delivered to your house. I think? Maybe you have to pick them up. But you can also lock in the current exchange rate, or wait until the time you go to pick them up. The bank will give you an exact exchange rate.  
 
The other thing you can do, is to thoroughly research your bank and wherever your going. I used to bank with Scotia, and they've got a partner company in Mexico where I was able to withdraw money anytime I needed. The only thing with that, is they dispense the larger bills as well. Taco stands won't typically be able to break the 500's or sometimes even the 100's. And, who wants to have to carry around a stack of 20's? Well, I would.

Thanks for all the info. I think we will just try to get to an ATM in Mexico as suggested. We did get a bit of American cash because I have heard that is accepted in most places as well, at least until we get our pesos. Thanks again!

Just got back and got them from a ATM in the closest town. Worked good for me

I have 2050 pesos that we are willing to sell.
